About Kuneo

The world isn't meant to be visited, it's meant to be lived.

Kuneo offers authentic homestay experiences, letting you discover a region through the eyes of the people who call it home.

A Story Half-Told

Know that feeling?

You come home from a trip, the photos are beautiful, but you’re left with that lingering sense of something missing.

That feeling of having missed out on what truly matters. You saw the monuments, but you didn't talk to anyone. You crossed the city, but you didn't really understand it.

Many of us feel this way: the desire for the keys that guides don't give you, to sit at a table that isn't in any ranking, and to learn something that only locals can teach you.

At Kuneo, we choose to put people and sharing back at the heart of travel.

We want you to become the main character of the story.

The spark: it all started with a frustration

We were hanging out with friends, sharing stories from our latest trips. And despite the beautiful memories, there was always that same feeling: "I wish I’d spent more time talking with the locals."

That’s when my mind drifted back to Salamanca.

We were just two teenagers, 15 years old, staying with an incredible lady just a few steps from the Plaza Mayor.

That trip was like no other. We learned Spanish by watching the evening news with her, we cooked in her tiny kitchen, laughing at our conjugation mistakes. We even taught her the French words for "fraise" and "fromage".

She showed us a statue that everyone else simply walked past. She told us why it mattered to the people there, and what it represented in their history.

She opened doors to narrow alleys where no tourist ever set foot. For a week, we didn't just "visit" Salamanca. We lived it.

We looked at each other and asked: "What if we could experience that same magic again, right now?"

Kuneo was born to rediscover that simplicity. Our name comes from the root word "kune" in Esperanto (the universal language), which means "together".

That is our mission: to make sure hospitality isn't just a school memory, but the standard.
